Dewatering is the process of removing surface or groundwater from a particular location. Most construction work cannot occur in areas with significant water ponding, so techniques have been designed to move water out of each area for the duration of construction.
Construction dewatering methods refer to techniques such as well points, deep wells, bypass and flood control. In wellpoint and deep wells, submersible pumps are installed in a drilled well shaft, while in bypass and flood control, pumps are placed in the area that needs to be dewatered.
